Full-time academic at University of Surrey since 2011 after roles in business, public sector and think-tanks. Co-investigator, Centre for Understanding Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP); senior lecturer in social science of sustainability, Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES). Former roles include: senior fellow of Policy Studies Institute, London; Associate Director, Henley Centre for Forecasting; co-head of environment, sustainability and waste strategy, Surrey County Council; policy advisor, UK Dept of Communities and Local Government; consultant to public agencies, corporations, NGOs; deputy/acting director, Demos think-tank, London; visiting professor, CES, University of Surrey. Expertise and research/teaching interests: policy and governance for sustainable development and environmental protection; ethics of sustainability; sustainable consumption and lifestyle change; religion and sustainable development.
